Bruins Take Second, Koch Earns Medalist Honors

A Winning Tradition

  • One NWC Player of the Year (Alex Plusquellec, 2017-18)
  • Two Division III PING All-Region Team
  • Six All-NWC Athletes

PASCO --- Despite battling with course conditions and darkness, the George Fox men's golf team placed second at the Sunshine Invite held on Sun Willows Golf Course.

It was a tournament like no other. After a frost delay forced teams to get a late start to the first round, the ruling was made to only count the first nine holes. The second day was different as golfers were able to get in all 36-holes to end the day.

The Bruins finished with a 148-305=453 (+21) to finish five strokes off the lead. Linfield won the tournament with a 448, while the Bruins edged Whitworth (454), Willamette (458), Whitman (477), Lewis & Clark (488) and Puget Sound (533).

Mason Koch earned medalist honors, winning the tournament with an even-par 34-74=108. Alex Plusquellec finished tied for third with a 36-74=110, while Mason Mueller placed T-13th with a 37-78=115 on the card. Caleb Fernandez signed a 41-79=120 to place T-25th and Clayton Rajewich shot a 41-80=121 to take T-28th. Joshua Lackey and Tanner Washburn both competed as individuals. Lackey shot a 37-78=115 to tie teammate Mueller at T-13th, while Washburn shot a 41-82=123 to take T-32nd.
