Bruins Lead WIllamette Spring Thaw After First Round

BEND --- The George Fox men's golf team leads the Willamette Spring Thaw by six strokes after four Bruins finished inside the top-15 in the first round.


The Bruins lead the field of eight teams by six strokes after posting a 309 team score. Whitworth and Willamette are currently tied for second with a 315 team score and Linfield is in fourth with a 318.

Mason Koch led the Bruins on the day with an even-par 72 to sit two strokes back in second place. Joshua Lackey, Alex Plusquellec and Clayton Rajewich all shot a seven-over-par 79 to sit T-12th. Caleb Fernandez rounded out the roster with an 88 and is T-34th. Tanner Washburn and Mason Mueller both competed as individuals for the Bruins. Washburn is T-29th with an 84, while Mueller is tied with Fernandez at T-34th with an 88.

Kenneth Sheldon leads the field of 46 golfers with a two-under-par 70 to hold the first round lead.

The Bruins will finish the final round Sunday, April 15 at the Pronghorn Resort.
