Koch Leads Bruins At Willamette Spring Thaw

BEND --- After leading the first round of the Willamette Spring Thaw, the George Fox men's golf team finished tied for fourth after a tough second day.


The Bruins shot a 325 in the second round for a 309-325=634 to tie with Willamette. Linfield College moved up three spots to win the tournament with a 620 team score. Pacific Lutheran finished second with a 627 and Whitworth shot a 631 to take third.

Mason Koch finished tied for first with a 72-77=149 to force a playoff with Benjamin Graham of Willamette. Koch fell in the second playoff hole after Graham recorded a par.

Joshua Lackey finished T-16th with a 79-81=160, while Clayton Rajewich was right behind him at T-18th with a 79-82=161.

Alex Plusquellec signed a 79-85=164 to take T-25th and Caleb Fernandez rounded out the lineup with an 88-87=175 to take T-36th. Tanner Washburn and Mason Mueller did well as individuals as they both moved up the leaderboard on the final day. Washburn finished T-25th with an 84-80=164 to tie with Plusquellec at 25th. Mueller finished with an 88-80=168 to place T-31st.

The Bruins play in their final tournament of the season April 21-22 at the NWC Championships.
