Bruins In Third After First Round of George Fox Invite

GEARHART --- The George Fox men's golf team hosted its lone tournament on the season Saturday, as the Bruins finished the first round of competition in third out of six teams.

Recap:

The Bruins are four strokes behind second place and eight strokes behind first with a 301 team score. Willamette leads the field of six teams with a 293 team score, while Linfield is in second with a 297. Pacific (Ore.) is in fourth (316), Lewis & Clark is in fifth (324) and Whitman rounds out the field in sixth (346).

Mason Koch continued his stellar season with a team-best 1-under-par 71 on the day. Koch is currently tied for second and is one stroke back from the leader. Caleb An and Clayton Rajewich both finished T-11th with a 76, while Joshua Lackey barely missed the top-15 with a 78 to take T-16th. Caleb Fernandez sits at T-20th with an 80 on the card. As for the individuals, Dante Heitschmidt is T-22nd with an 82, Nathaniel Gurnee is T-25th with an 84, Kory Hunn is T-28th with an 86 and Zach Gruginski is T-32nd with an 88.

Isaac Grebisz of Linfield leads the field of 36 golfers with a 2-under-par 70.
