Bruins Place Second At Whitman Invite

WALLA WALLA --- The George Fox men's golf team moved up one spot in the final round of the Confluence Health Classic to finish second out of six teams, Sunday afternoon.


After the first round, the Bruins were sitting 11 strokes back from first place and four strokes back from second. With a total team effort, the Bruins jumped up one spot to shoot an 8-over-par team score of 296 in the final round. Pacific Lutheran won the tournament with a 12-under-par 280-276=556. The Bruins shot a 291-296=587 to finish 11-over-par after two days.

Mason Koch was the top finisher for the Bruins with a 3-under-par 70-71=141 to finish tied for fourth. Clayton Rajewich also cracked the top-10 in eighth with a 1-over-par 72-73=145. Caleb An moved up four spots to finish T-15th with a 5-over-par 75-74=149, while Joshua Lackey finished T-23rd with an 8-over-par 74-78=152. Caleb Fernandez rounded out the lineup with a 77-85=162 to place T-33rd. Dante Heitschmidt competed as an individual for the Bruins and shot an 81-72=153 to take 27th.

Austin Darnell of Pacific Lutheran won the tournament with an 8-under-par 69-67=136.

The Bruins will play next in the spring at the Spring Kickoff tournament on March 9-10, 2019.
