Bruins Finish Illinois Wesleyan Invitational In 16th

NORMAL --- The George Fox men's golf team finished the Illinois Wesleyan Invitational with a 309-team score on Saturday to place 15th out of 21 teams.


The Bruins followed up their 308-team score on Friday with a 309 in the final round for a two-day total of 617.  Illinois Wesleyan won the tournament with a 4-under-par 572-team score. Hope College moved up three spots to place second with a 581, while Illinois Wesleyan's 'B' team finished third with a 583.

Caleb An was the only Bruin to crack the top-15 in a field of 120 golfers. An shot a 73-74=147 to finish in a tie for 12th. Mason Koch signed a 76-77=153 to place T-53rd, while Dante Heitschmidt climbed the leaderboard up seven spots to place T-78th, shooting an 80-77=157. Caleb Fernandez went into the clubhouse with a 79-81=160 to take T-92nd and Clayton Rajewich finished T-108th with back-to-back 82's for a 164. Joshua Lackey competed for the Bruins as an individual and tied with Heitschmidt at 78th with a 157.

Drew Pershing of Illinois Wesleyan held on to win the tournament with a 5-under-par 139.

The Bruins will tee it up next in the Northwest Conference Spring Classic on April 13-14 in Olympia, Washington.
