Bruins Sit In Fourth After Day One of NWC Spring Classic

OLYMPIA --- The George Fox men's golf team sits in fourth out of nine teams after the first round of the Northwest Conference Spring Classic held at Olympia Country & Golf Club.


The Bruins shot a 314-team score to sit in the middle of the pack after the first round. Conditions on the course played tough, as each team battled the rain and wind throughout the day.

No. 28 Pacific Lutheran leads the field with a 300-team score, while No. 38 Whitworth is close behind in second with a 304-team score. No. 24 Willamette is in third with a 305-team score. The Bruins finished ahead of Linfield (315), Puget Sound (321), Lewis & Clark (331), Whitman (340), and Pacific (344).  

Mason Koch was the day one leader for the Bruins, firing off a 5-over-par 75 to sit in a tie for sixth. Dante Heitschmidt finished with a 7-over-par 77 to place T-11th, while Clayton Rajewich shot a 9-over-par 79 to take T-19th. Caleb An signed an 83 to finish T-29th and Joshua Lackey went into the clubhouse with an 85 to take 36th.

Austin Darnell of Pacific Lutheran and Preston Roth of Whitworth are currently tied for first with a 2-over-par 72.  

What Comes Next:

The Bruins will look to climb the leaderboard on Sunday, April 14, with a mid-afternoon tee time.
