Bruins Sit In Second Behind Strong Opening Round

McMINNVILLE --- The first round of the Linfield Invitational wrapped up on Saturday, Sept. 28, and the George Fox men's golf team sits in second place behind a pair of strong performances from Mason Koch and Joshua Lackey.


The Invitational is being played at Michelbook Country Club, a par-72 course with 6513 yards to traverse from start to finish.

Koch and Lackey lead the pack in a tie for first overall after turning in a card of 71 (-1) after round one. Their strong first round puts both Bruins in the lead by a stroke of the next-closest golfer from Northwest Christian.

Dante Heitschmidt sits in a five-way tie for 11th with a first round of 77 (+5), and Clayton Rajewich is tied for 25th after playing an opening round of 80 (+8). Caleb Fernandez sits in a tie for 33rd after shooting an 82 on the opening day (+10).

Hayden Ledvina makes his collegiate debut with a round of 97 (+25) in the opening round of the tournament.

The Bruins will wrap up play on Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Linfield Invitational to conclude their second tournament of the fall season.
