Bruins Take Second Tourney Crown Of 2019-20

GEARHART, Ore. --- The George Fox men's golf team claimed its second tourney win in as many outings after capturing the George Fox Invitational team title on Sunday, Oct. 6.


Playing on the historic Gearhart Golf Links – the oldest U.S. course west of the Mississippi river – the Bruins moved from trailing Pacific Lutheran on the team leaderboard to take the tournament behind solid play from Joshua Lackey and Clayton Rajewich.

Lackey shot a 74 (+2) in round one after making par on 13 of 18 and followed that on day two with a round of 70 (-2) to help slash his total card down to a 144 (E). Lackey finished in sole possession of second on the individual leaderboard.

Rajewich led the Bruins after day one with a card of 71 (-1) and then shot a 74 (+2) in his second walk around the greens to finish in third place overall with a total tourney card of 145 (+1).

Mason Koch ended day one with a card of 75 (+3) and climbed from tied for tenth into a tie for fourth. Koch used a round of 71 (-1) on day two to finish as the third Bruin among the top five on the individual leaderboard with a card of 146 (+2).

Dante Heitschmidt turned in a round of 76 (+4) on day one and followed it with a round of 83 on day two. Heitschmidt finished the tourney in a tie for 24th overall at 159 (+15).

Caleb Fernandez ended the tourney in a tie for 29th after shooting an 82 (+10) on day one and an 80 (+8) on day two.

Hayden Ledvina finished the tournament in 42nd after a round of 108 (+36) in round one and a 102 (+30) on day two. Ledvina played as an individual golfer that does not affect the Bruins' scoring five.

The Bruins return home to prepare for the Northwest Conference Fall Classic on Oct. 12 & 13, at the OGA Golf Course.
