Bruins Notch Third Straight Tourney Title, Claim NWC Fall Classic

WOODBURN, Ore. --- The Northwest Conference Fall Classic wrapped up on Sunday, Oct. 13, with the men's golfers of George Fox at the top of the standings. The Bruins' victory is their third in a row this season.


One day removed from a school-record round at the OGA Golf Course – a 6510-yard, par-72 course – the Bruins held their lead by a stroke over the next-closest finisher to win the Fall Classic.

Each of the nine NWC programs were represented in the field with five-man teams.

Mason Koch led the Bruins with a total card of 143 (-1) after rounds of 67 and 76. Koch finished in second overall out of the 45 individuals in the tournament and had the lowest single round of the tournament with a 67 on day one.

Joshua Lackey matched Koch's low round on day one and finished with a card of 144 (E) for the tournament after shooting a 77 on day two. Lackey was able to finish in a tie for third overall with teammate Dante Heitschmidt.

Heitschmidt turned in a total card of 144 (E) after rounds of 69 and 75 at the Classic. Heitschmidt's tie for third overall is his best finish of the season to date.

Clayton Rajewich climbed eight spots up the individual leaderboard on day two to finish in a tie for 19th overall. He shot a total tourney card of 153 (+9) after rounds of 80 and 73, trimming seven strokes on day two.

Caleb Fernandez closed out the Bruins' field with rounds of 78 and 84 for a total card of 162 (+18), good enough for a tie at 36th in the field.

The Bruins' fall season comes to a close with the end of the Fall Classic, and now the Bruins turn their attention to preparing for their spring competitions.
