Bruins In Full Force After First Day of ITA Northwest Regional Championships

WALLA WALLA --- The George Fox men's tennis team was in full force at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships Saturday, as the Bruins played in a combined 22 singles matches and 10 doubles matches on the day.

Recap:

The day kicked off around 8:15 am with singles and doubles finished around 9:15 pm. The long day was worth it for the Bruins, as the team recorded eight players through the first round and seven through the second to make the sweet sixteen. The Bruins went a combined 15-3 in singles play with a school-record seven players into the sweet sixteen. Luke Lemaitre, Alex Namba, Thierry Van Os, Payton Namba, Rox Rogers, Keaten Baker, and Will Leach all earned a spot in the sweet sixteen.

As for doubles, the Bruins went 4-1 in the first round and 3-1 in the second round. Leach/Baker, Barton/Gibson, Van Os/P. Namba all will have a shot to continue the legacy for the Bruins.

What Comes Next:

The Bruins will enjoy a good amount of competition Sunday, Sept. 23, as they look to repeat as champions.
