NEWBERG --- The George Fox men's tennis team continued the gauntlet of playing NCAA Division I teams on Friday, as the Bruins hosted Seattle University in a 6-3 loss.

Recap:

The Bruins came out strong in doubles play, taking two points at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. Will Leach and Keaten Baker were on fire in a 6-4 match over Arshak Ghazaryan and Trenton Nield. Payton Namba and Thierry Van Os grabbed the Bruins' second point of the match with a 6-4 win over B. Givens-Jensen and Alex Chan.

The Bruins went into singles with the 2-1 lead, but the Redhawks came to play as they won five of the six points to take a 6-3 victory. Luke Lemaitre was the bright spot for the Bruins with a 6-3, 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot. Leach, Rox Rogers, and Pete Gibson all took their matches to three sets before falling.

"There was a lot of great takeaways from today's match," said head coach Neal Ninteman. "We had some lessons we can learn from to get better as we go into conference play."

What Comes Next:

The Bruins will start Northwest Conference play Saturday, March 9, with the home opener against the Lutes of Pacific Lutheran. The match is set for 10 am.
