SAN ANTONIO, Texas --- The No. 26-ranked George Fox softball team swept the Tigers of Trinity (Texas) University in a non-conference double-header, Sunday afternoon.

The Bruins are on a six game road trip out in Texas this week, as the team will face Concordia (Texas) on March 24th and Schreiner on the 25th. With the two wins today, the Bruins improve to 16-4 on the season.

In game one, the Bruins were led by Kat Hylton and Julia Apodaca who both recorded two hits and a run. All six of the Bruins runs came in the top of the second when Apodaca doubled to left center scoring both Hylton and Alex Parker. A wild pitch scored one more run and Courtney Howard reached on a fielder's choice with Ashley Bunce scoring on a muffed throw by the catcher. Kayla Anderson finished the inning off with a double to centerfield scoring two more.

Abbie Bergerson went the entire seven innings and gave up just one run and seven hits in her performance in the circle. She improves her record to 8-2 on the season.

In game two, George Fox used its momentum from game run to put up three runs in the top of the first. Anderson had a huge game at the plate going 3-4 with one RBI. The Bruins managed to score one more in the top of the third when Parker screamed a single up the middle to score Howard.

The Tigers wouldn't go down without a fight, though, scoring one in the bottom of the third and four in the bottom of the fourth. The Bruins finished off the game with an RBI single from Anderson and a two RBI homerun from Annie Veatch.

Madison Sorensen received the nod in the circle for the second game and went 3.2 innings for the Bruins, giving up five runs and two hits. Bergerson came in to relieve Sorensen and finished the game, pitching 3.1 innings. Bergerson received the win and improved to 9-2 on the season.

George Fox will pick back up on the 24th at 11:00 a.m.
