McMINNVILLE --- The George Fox softball team caught the #1 Linfield Wildcats in the opening round of the Northwest Conference tournament on Friday, dropping the tough one on the road, 6-0.

Neither team was able to find their way onto the scoreboard in the first inning. In the bottom of the second, however, Linfield managed to jump out to an early lead with three runs.

The Wildcats scratched across a run in the bottom of the third to take a 4-0 lead over the Bruins.

George Fox struggled to set up their offense against Linfield's pitching ace Shelby Saylors, whose 18 wins pace the Northwest Conference.

Runs from the Wildcats in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings put the game out of reach.

The Bruins fell in round one, 6-0.
