McMINNVILLE --- The Bruins of George Fox competed in the Northwest Conference sprint meet on Saturday, Oct. 27, hosted by the Linfield Wildcats. Both the male and female Bruin squads finished in fifth out of seven scoring teams.


The Bruins were able to put at least one swimmer in the top half of each the field in every event they entered, and even came away with several individuals victories in the shorter distances. The women's program finished with 64 points, while the men's team was able to edge out Pacific and Willamette by a handful of points for fifth.

Aspen Monkhouse won both the 50 yard fly and the 50 yard freestyle for the Bruins, and finished eighth in the 50 yard breaststroke.

Caleb Dean finished in the top ten twice for the Bruins, placing seventh in the 50 yard backstroke and ninth in the 50 fly with a time of 24.71. Dean was in the top 25 in his other three events as well, finishing 19th in the 50 yard breaststroke, 23rd in the 100 IM, and 24th in the 50 yard free.

Olivia Gibson had her best finish of the day in the 50 yard freestyle, placing seventh with a time of 26.11. She also did well in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 30.16, just outside of the top-scoring 15 in the event.
