NEWBERG --- The George Fox swim team hosted its first-ever Northwest Conference dual meet Saturday, as the Bruins welcomed Pacific Lutheran to the newly designed Chehalem Parks and Recreation Aquatic Center.


The Bruins dropped the dual meet by a combined score of 281-81. The Lutes outscored the Bruins 130-56 on the women's side and 151-25 on the men's side. The Lutes participated in all 22 events, while the Bruins competed in 19. The 56 points put up by the women's team marks the most in a dual meet this season.

Grace Ferguson kicked things off for the Bruins on the women's side with a third-place finish in the women's 200-yard freestyle. She recorded a time of 2:08.18 to set a new personal best by two seconds. Aspen Monkhouse recorded her fourth straight NWC win in the women's 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.58. Madeline Angerame and Kaitlyn Brookes finished third and fourth in the women's 50-yard free, respectively.

Joanna Zuckerman grabbed three points for the Bruins in the women's 200-yard IM, finishing with a time of 2:22.11. Olivia Gibson won the women's 100-yard free with a time of 56.43, while teammate Gabrielle Wood finished second with a time of 58.20. Gibson and Ferguson went two and three in the women's 500-yard free, respectively.

On the men's side, Caleb Dean placed second in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:05.69. Dean also grabbed a second place finish in the men's 100-yard free with a time of 50.05. Zach Johnson had a nice finish in the men's 100-yard butterfly, taking third with a time of 56.94.

The Bruins are back in action Dec. 1-2 when they host the Bruin Invite at 1 pm.
