Bruins Hosted College of Idaho and SWOCC In Tri-Meet Saturday

NEWBERG --- The George Fox swim team hosted College of Idaho and Southwestern Oregon Community College in a tri-meet, Saturday afternoon.


The Bruins kicked off the meet with a second place finish in the women's 400-yard medley relay. Madeline Angerame, Gabrielle Wood, Olivia Gibson, and Aspen Monkhouse produced a time of 4:19.49 to give the Bruins nine points.

Monkhouse continued her hot streak in the women's 50-yard free with another first place finish. The sophomore recorded a time of 24.19. She also finished second in the women's 100-yard free with a time of 54.92. Gibson grabbed a third-place finish in the women's 200-yard IM with a time of 2:23.52 – marking a new personal best. Grace Ferguson had a nice race in the women's 500-yard free, placing second with a time of 5:38.54.

The women's 400-yard freestyle relay group of Wood, Kaitlyn Brookes, Gibson, and Monkhouse closed out the meet with a time of 3:49.71 to place second out of six teams.

On the men's side, Zach Johnson placed second in the men's 200-yard free with a time of 1:55.09 – marking a new personal best. Caleb Dean recorded a third-place finish in the men's 200-yard backstroke after finishing with a time of 2:03.82.

What Comes Next:

The Bruins will hit the road next week when they travel up to Washington to take on Puget Sound on Jan. 18. The meet is set for 6 pm.
