Loggers Overcome Bruins

TACOMA --- The George Fox swim team made the trip up to Washington Friday night in a Northwest Conference dual meet against the Loggers of Puget Sound. The Bruins fell to the Loggers, 260.5-113.5.


The men's team had their best performance to date with a team score of 62.5 points. As a team, they recorded four event wins and one relay victory. They swept all the 100-yard events, as Drew Johnson kicked things off with a first-place finish in the men's 100-yard butterfly. D. Johnson posted a time of 55.57 to beat out teammate Zach Johnson in second place with a time of 57.00. D. Johnson recorded his second win of the night in the men's 100-yard breaststroke after posting a time of 1:01.45.

Caleb Dean won the men's 100-yard free with a time of 49.93, while Noah Burlingame won the men's 100-yard backstroke with a time of 57.54.

Burlingame, D. Johnson, Z. Johnson, and Dean were in true form on the night, winning the men's 200-yard medley relay by four seconds. They posted a time of 1:41.61 to beat out the Loggers' time of 1:45.86.

On the women's side, Olivia Gibson won the women's 200-yard free with a time of 2:03.71, while teammate Gabrielle Wood came in second with a time of 2:05.67. Aspen Monkhouse continued her perfect streak in the women's 50-yard free with a time of 24.45.

What Comes Next:

The Bruins are back in action Saturday, Jan. 19 when they host Linfield College at 1 pm.
