Bruins Drop Dual Meet to 'Cats

A Winning Tradition

NEWBERG --- The George Fox swim team hosted the Wildcats of Linfield College on Saturday, as the 'Cats won the Northwest Conference dual meet with a combined score of 248-131.

The teams did well despite not competing in every event and having a smaller roster than the visiting Wildcats. The women's team fell to the 'Cats, 115-71, while the men dropped their meet, 133-60.

On the women's side, Grace Ferguson placed second in the women's 200-yard free with a time of 2:07.33. Aspen Monkhouse and Olivia Gibson delivered a 1-2 punch in the women's 50-yard free. Monkhouse kept her undefeated streak alive with a first-place finish with a time of 24.77. Gibson was right behind her in second with a time of 25.67.

Monkhouse also went on to win the women's 100-yard free with a time of 56.19. Gabrielle Wood placed second in the women's 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:40.98.

Zach Johnson placed second in the men's 50-yard free with a time of 23.71. Drew Johnson won the men's 200-yard IM with a time of 2:01.60, while Caleb Dean was right behind him in second with a time of 2:03.81. D. Johnson grabbed his second win of the meet in the men's 200-yard breaststroke after producing a time of 2:15. 76.

What Comes Next:

The Bruins will host their final meet of the inaugural 2018-19 season against the Boxers of Pacific (Ore.) The Bruins will honor Grace Ferguson and Bethany Christensen for senior day.
