SPOKANE --- The No. 13-ranked George Fox women's basketball team braved the snow and continued its road trip on Saturday, beating the Whitworth Pirates, 84-62.

Emily Holder had the hot hand early, scoring the Bruins' first four points in the contest.
With just under six minutes left in the quarter, the sides were tied at 6-6. From there, George Fox scored five unanswered in an effort to take control of the game early. They led by five at the end of one, 19-14.
The Bruins opened up the second quarter with a 5-0 run to push the lead to double-digits.
Whitworth began to get into its groove on offense, hitting three quick threes to cut the lead to just one, 24-23, with just over five minutes remaining.
The Pirates took a 30-28 lead with a little over three minutes left in the half, but the Bruins pushed back and, thanks in part to a pair of late buckets by Tavin Headings; George Fox held a lead at the break, 39-35. Madison Hull did most of the damage for the Bruins in the second quarter, scoring nine after going an impressive 5-6 from the charity stripe.
After the break, Holder came out of the locker room dialed in, hitting a pair of layups early to score the Bruins' first four points.
George Fox demonstrated the power of its offense in the third quarter, scoring 25 points on 62.5% shooting from the field. Headings was instrumental in the offensive explosion, pouring in 10 points on 4-5 shooting. The Bruins led 64-53 heading into the final frame.
The Bruins remained firmly in control of the fourth quarter, clamping down on defense to prevent any type of run from the Pirates. They held Whitworth to just a single make from the field in the final period.
The top-ranked Bruins' offense did enough damage to keep the game out of reach as they earned a clinical victory, 84-62.
Top Performers:
Headings was instant offense off the bench in this one, tying her career-high 24 points to go along with six rebounds. Emily Spencer was the next leading scorer, pouring in 12. Matney Jamieson and Holder were the other pair of Bruins in double-figures, chipping in 10 apiece.
What It Means:
The Bruins go 2-0 over the weekend to move to 13-1 in conference play and 20-3 overall. The Bruins are now one game ahead of No. 22 Whitman in the conference standings.

The Bruins face Linfield on the road on Tuesday, February 12 at 6:00 pm.
