Bruins Lead UCSC Spring Invite After Day One

PACIFIC GROVE --- The No. 1-ranked George Fox women's golf team leads the UCSC Spring Invite by six strokes after the first round of action.


The Bruins were on fire in the first round of the UCSC Spring Invite, as four Bruins finished inside the top-10.

George Fox shot a 309 team score to finish six strokes ahead of No. 11 Washington & Lee, who is in second with a 315 team score. Corban University is in third with a 325, Biola University is in fourth with a 333 and Occidental College is in fifth with a 340.

Kayle Hunn not only led the top-ranked Bruins, but also the field of 60 golfers with an even-par 72. Hunn currently sits in first by four strokes. Iris Kawada, Rachel Drgastin and Alexandria McMenamin all recorded 79's on the card to place tied for seventh. Kristin Elich signed an 86 and is currently T-26th.

Janelle Decker and Tianna Brown both competed as individuals for the Bruins. Decker and Brown are both T-12th with an 81 on each of their cards.
