Bruins Win UCSC Invitational By 10 Strokes

PACIFIC GROVE --- The No. 1-ranked George Fox women's golf team won its sixth tournament of the season Saturday, as the Bruins won the UC Santa Cruz Invitational by 10 strokes.


The Bruins finished the two-day tournament with a 309-307=616 to take down the field of nine teams. No. 11 Washington & Lee finished second with a team score of 626, while Biola University placed third with a team score of 642.

Kayle Hunn held on to her four-stroke lead from day one and finished with a 72-78=150 to earn medalist honors. This marks Hunn's first win as a Bruin in her career. Iris Kawada placed seventh with a 79-77=156, while Alexandria McMenamin finished inside the top-10 with an eighth-place finish as she shot a 79-79=158. Kristin Elich bounced back in the second round with a 73 to tie with Rachel Drgastin at T-10th. Elich shot an 86-73=159, while Drgastin signed a 79-80=159.

What Comes Next:

The Bruins will jump back into Northwest Conference play with the NWC Spring Classic April 7-8 at the Hangman Valley Golf Course.
