Bruins Win NWC Spring Classic By 22 Strokes

SPOKANE --- The No. 1-ranked George Fox women's golf team won the Northwest Conference Spring Classic by 22 strokes at the Hangman Valley Golf Course, Sunday afternoon.


The Bruins finished with a 300-304=604 team score to edge Whitman College, who shot a 308-318=626 to take second. Whitworth finished in third with a 326-326=652.

Kristin Elich went wire-to-wire for the tournament, earning her third medalist honors of the season. Elich shot a 70-75=145 to win by two strokes over teammate Janelle Decker, who finished second with a 74-73=147. Kayle Hunn placed sixth with a 79-77=156, while Rachel Drgastin signed a 77-80=157 to finish tied for seventh. Alexandria McMenamin also cracked the top-10 with back-to-back 79's for a 158 to take tied for ninth.

All five Bruins finished inside the top-10 out of 44 golfers.

This marks the seventh tournament win for the top-ranked Bruins and the second NWC Tournament win of the season. The Bruins won the NWC Fall Classic Oct. 14-15. 

What Comes Next:

The Bruins will take on the NWC Championship next April 21-22 in Lakewood, Washington, at Oakbrook Golf Club.
