Bruins Hold Two Stroke Lead After First Round of NWC Fall Classic

McMINNVILLE --- The George Fox women's golf team holds a two-stroke lead after the first round of the Northwest Conference Fall Classic.


The Bruins finished day one with a 323 team score to hold of Whitman's 325 to take a two-stroke lead heading into the final round. Lewis & Clark is in third with a 336, Whitworth is in fourth with a 338 and Pacific (Ore.) is in fifth with a 338 team score.

George Fox had all five golfers finish inside the top-10, as Janelle Decker led the way with a 79 on the scorecard. Decker is currently in third and sits six-strokes back from first place. Iris Kawada placed tied for fourth with an 80, while Alex McMenamin and Kayle Hunn both shot an 82 to place tied for seventh. Rachel Drgastin shot an 83 and is currently T-10th.

The Bruins led the field in pars with 43 and par-3 scoring with an average of 3.24.

The Bruins will look to expand their lead Sunday, Oct. 14, in the final round of the NWC Fall Classic.
