Bruins Remain Atop NWC Standings With Big Win Over 'Cats

MCMINNVILLE --- The George Fox women's lacrosse team was back in action for Northwest Conference play Saturday afternoon, as the Bruins beat the 'Cats of Linfield College, 18-2.


George Fox had a strong outing in the first half, as the Bruins put on a clinic with 12 goals in the first 30 minutes of play.

The Bruins opened the game with eight straight goals to take an 8-0 lead. Jennifer Burke, Emma Fanger, Jocelyn Welberg, Madison Strickland, Lois Ray and Jess Hanson all got in on the action.

The Bruins kept the pressure on the 'Cats finishing strong with a 12-1 lead at the break.

The pressure of the George Fox offense proved to be too much for the 'Cats, as the Bruins were able to score at will.

Meredith put the icing on the cake for the Bruins, as the freshman recorded three straight goals to end the game with the 18-2 victory.

Top Performers:

Eight Bruins got in on the action, as Jess Hanson and Jennifer Burke led the squad with four goals apiece. Teel tallied three goals, while Fanger and Strickland both recorded a pair apiece. The Bruins had all three goalies in the rotation, as Mikaela Easterlin, Zoe Jorgensen and Alyssa Poffenroth split time in the net.

What It Means:

The Bruins remain undefeated in NWC play at 4-0 and 7-2 on the season.

What Comes Next:

The Bruins will travel to Pacific for a road matchup April 7 at 10 am.
