HILLSBORO --- After the first week of competition for the George Fox women's lacrosse team, the Bruins swept the Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week awards, as Madison Strickland and Bailey Faust were named for offense and defense, respectively.

Strickland was on fire for the Bruins in the 18-0 shutout home opener against Johnson & Wales (Denver) on March 2. She was one of two players to score four goals, while also dishing out three assists for seven points. She also collected two draw controls and recorded 85.7 shots on goal percentage.

As for the defensive side of things, Faust was all over the place, giving the Wildcats plenty of issues when it came to scoring opportunities. She recorded a team-high four caused turnovers and was crucial in keeping the Wildcats to just one shot on goal throughout the entire game.

The Bruins are back in action Tuesday, March 5, with a nonconference game against New England College at 6 pm.
