COLORADO SPRINGS --- The George Fox women's lacrosse team faced Colorado College on the road on Monday, losing 19-9.


The Bruins struck first, as Jennifer Burke found the back of the net on an assist by Lois Ray just over a minute into the game. Grace Matteson kept it up, scoring shortly after to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead early on.

Colorado College scored two goals in short succession to tie the game with just over 25 minutes left in the first half.

Ray found the back of the net on a free position shot at the 23:30 mark, then Madison Strickland increased the Bruins' lead with a goal shortly after, setting the score at 4-2.

Colorado College stormed back into the game, scoring six unanswered goals to take an 8-4 lead.

Ray put the Bruins back in the scoring column at the 6:56 mark to cut Colorado College's lead to just three.

The Tigers scored three straight to extend their lead, but Burke was able to halt the run with a goal at the 3:29 mark.

Colorado College led at the halftime break, 12-6.

The Tigers scored three out of the gate to push their lead to 15-6, but Andrea Garcia-Milla scored in an effort to keep the Bruins in the game shortly after.

Two more goals from George Fox was not enough to close the gap between the teams, as the Bruins dropped a tough one, 19-9.

Top Performers:

Ray paced the Bruins in scoring, finding the back of the net three times on six shots to go along with an assist. Burke played well also, scoring two goals and assisting on one. Alfaro led the Bruins in assists with three.

What It Means:

The Bruins move to 6-2 overall and remain an undefeated 3-0 in conference play.

What Comes Next:

The Bruins face Linfield on the road on Saturday, March 30th at 1:00 pm.
