Bruins Thump Boxers In Decisive Win

NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox women's soccer team hosted Pacific (Ore.) for a Wednesday night conference matchup, coming out of the contest with a big win, 3-0.


It didn't take long for the Bruins to strike, netting their first goal in just the 9th minute of play. Freshman forward Chloe Shumaker and junior Jayli Miyamoto connected on a give-and-go that resulted in Miyamoto finding the back of the net, 1-0.

The home team kept the pressure on Pacific all through the first half, outshooting their opposition 9-3.

The Bruins again struck early in the second half as freshman Puka Ahina scored on a penalty kick in the 49th minute.

Up 2-0, George Fox continued their stellar offensive effort as veteran forward Emma Logan beat her defender in the 68th minute and found the back of the net for her third goal of the season.

The Bruins outshot Pacific 17-9 on the way to a decisive 3-0 conference victory.

Top Performers:

Ahina and Miyamoto led the offense as each tallied four shots (three on-target) and a goal. Logan scored the goal that widened the gap to round out a statement offensive performance.

What It Means:

The Bruins move to 6-4-2 overall and 4-3-2 in conference play after today's win. They currently hold the fourth-best record in the Northwest Conference.

What Comes Next:

The Bruins host Puget Sound on Sunday for a conference matchup set for 12:00pm.
