Bruins Take Down Blues In Final Minutes

WALLA WALLA, Wash. --- The George Fox women's soccer team continued its weekend road trip with a Sunday afternoon game against Whitman, winning the close conference matchup, 2-1.


After holding off an early offensive opportunity by Whitman, the Bruins rattled off an on-target shot of their own by Michala Denn in the 12th minute.

Lizzie Roth struck first for the Bruins at the end of the first half, managing to find the back of the net for her first goal of the season in the 42nd minute.

Although Whitman outshot George Fox in the first half, the Bruins still came away with the halftime lead, 1-0.

Whitman returned fire in the 77th minute, slipping one past the Bruin defense for the tie, 1-1.

With the game on the line, the Bruins earned a penalty kick for a chance to win it in the 88th minute. Brittany Bravo stepped up for the road team and found the back of the net for the game-winning goal, 2-0.

Top Performers:

Bravo led the offense with two shots and a goal. Roth tallied the other goal to round out the Bruin effort. Annalisa Klein anchored the defense with five saves in only 45 minutes of play.

What It Means:

The Bruins move to 7-6-2 overall and 5-5-2 in conference play.

What Comes Next:

The Bruins will make the short trek to Linfield Saturday, Oct. 28, for a conference matchup set for 12:00pm.
