Chloe Shumaker Saves The Day In Win Over Pioneers

NEWBERG, Ore. --- The George Fox women's soccer team hosted Lewis & Clark in an exciting conference matchup on Sunday, taking the close game, 2-1.


The first half saw both teams struggle to get their offense going. While George Fox was able to hold the Pios scoreless, they were unable to earn the advantage as the game remained tied headed into the halftime break.

The Bruins earned a penalty kick in the 55th minute that was taken by senior forward Emma Laurion, who promptly found the back of the net, 1-0.

Up by one, the Bruins were able to hold off the Pios until the 82nd minute when the visiting team was able to even the score on a corner kick.

With only 46 seconds left in the game, Chloe Shumaker took a shot off of a deflection that found the back of the net, winning the game in the final seconds of the 89th minute for the Bruins, 2-1.

Top Performers:

Shumaker and Laurion led the Bruin offense on Sunday with a goal apiece.

What It Means:

The Bruins move to 8-7-2 overall and 6-6-2 in conference play.

The Bruins host Pacific Lutheran Saturday, Nov. 4, in a conference matchup set for 11:00am.
