Lutes Take Down Bruins Saturday

NEWBERG --- The George Fox women's soccer team hosted Pacific Lutheran in a Northwest Conference matchup on Saturday, losing a tough one, 2-0.


The Lutes struck early, netting a goal around the eight-minute mark on a finish off of a blocked shot.

The game became a battle for the midfield throughout much of the first half. The Bruins held tough but in the 36th minute, the Lutes managed to score once more.

George Fox trailed 2-0 at the end of the first half.

The Bruin defense played tough in the second half, holding the Lutes to two fewer shots than in the first period.

Although George Fox held the high-powered Pacific Lutheran offense scoreless in the second half, the Bruins were also unable to find the back of the net as they dropped a tough one, 2-0.

Top Performers:

Annalisa Klein anchored the Bruin defense in goal, saving an impressive six shots. Puka Ahina paced the Bruin offense in shots, tallying two.

What It Means:

The Bruins move to 1-1-1 in conference play, hanging around the middle of the Northwest Conference standings in the early part of the season.

What Comes Next:

The Bruins will look to bounce back on the road on Sunday, as they will take on Willamette in a conference matchup set for 12:00 pm.
