George Fox Falls To Linfield On The Road

McMINNVILLE --- The George Fox women's soccer team made the short trip to Linfield on Sunday, dropping a close conference matchup to the rival Wildcats, 2-1.


The Wildcats jumped out to an early lead, scoring on a rebounded shot in the 16th minute to go up 1-0.

Leanna Harris made the keeper work with a shot on goal in the 20th minute, but was unable to slip the ball into the net.

Linfield scored once more in the 39th minute on a shot that rebounded off the crossbar, taking a 2-0 lead heading into the halftime break.

The Bruins came out aggressive in the second half, taking shots in the 49th and 55th minutes that kept pressure on the Wildcats.

George Fox finally found pay dirt in the 64th minute. Madison Huesers sent a howler from 40 yards out on a free kick that sailed into the back of the net, cutting the lead to 2-1.

The Bruins had the chance to equalize on a set piece around the 85-minute mark, but Savannah Sexton's header attempt was saved.

Top Performers:

Huesers scored the lone goal for the Bruins, converting one of her two shots. Abby Anderson was a factor as well, tallying two shots of her own.

What It Means:

The Bruins move to 3-7-2 overall and 1-7-2 in conference play.

What Comes Next:

The Bruins take on Pacific Lutheran on the road on Saturday at 12:00pm.
