George Fox Falls To Lutes In Tacoma

TACOMA --- The George Fox women's soccer team took to the road for a matchup against Pacific Lutheran on Saturday, losing a close one, 1-0.


The Lutes struck early, finding the back of the net in just the sixth minute to take an early 1-0 lead.

George Fox put their first shot on frame in the 20th minute, but the opposing keeper was able to save Savannah Moisan's attempt.

The Bruins kept the pressure on, earning a flurry of chances around the 33-minute mark. Three corner kicks yielded a shot on target by Daria Brandt, but the Lutes' keeper came in with a clutch save once again.

Pacific Lutheran retained a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

Neither team was able to get going on offense in the final 45 minutes. The Bruins had a pair of chances in the final ten minutes, but both were saved by the Lutes' keeper, who finished with four important saves on the day.

Top Performers:

Moisan paced the team on offense, tallying two shots, both of which were on frame. Freshman goalkeeper Brooke Jones stepped in and played 90 minutes today, recording four saves.

What It Means:

The Bruins move to 1-8-2 in conference play after Saturday's matchup.

What Comes Next:

The Bruins will look to bounce back at home on Sunday with a conference matchup against Willamette. Kickoff is set for 12:00pm.
