NEWBERG --- The George Fox women's soccer team bounced back with a 2-1 home win against the Willamette Bearcats on Sunday afternoon.

The Bruins struck early, netting a goal in the 17th minute to take an early lead. Pilialoha Ahina played a ball to Brittany Bravo who flipped it into the back of the net, 1-0.

The Bruins kept the pressure on Willamette's defense, creating a number of chances before Savannah Moisan managed to find pay dirt. Moisan took a pass from Jaydn McMillan and sent the ball past the keeper, giving George Fox a 2-0 lead.

George Fox held a 2-0 advantage over Willamette heading into the halftime break.

The second half saw both teams creating solid offensive chances, but it was the Bearcats who struck next. A goal at the 68-minute mark cut the Bruin lead to just one heading into the final stretch.

Up 2-1, the Bruin defense buckled down and held off a flurry of chances in the closing minutes, earning a hard-fought win against a Willamette squad that sits at the top end of the conference standings.
