A Winning Tradition
HILLSBORO --- Maggee Hodgdon was named the Northwest Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday, September 3.
Hodgdon, a sophomore transfer to George Fox, put both of her shots against Hope College (Mich.) into the back of the net on Friday, August 30. A local product from Newberg High School, Hodgdon has quickly made her presence known for the Bruins in her return home after a year at University of Minnesota-Crookston in 2018-19.
Hodgdon did the work herself for the Bruins' first goal of the season, scoring unassisted to break a scoreless draw, and then used an assist from Kaitlyn Martinez to net her second as a Bruin ten minutes later against the Flying Dutch on Hope's field in Holland, Mich.
Her two goals for the Bruins helped secure a 2-2 draw against a tough opponent - ranked No. 15 in the United Soccer Coaches' poll - in her debut match as a Bruin.
Hodgdon and the rest of the Bruins' roster have a bye week to prepare for their home opener against NAIA opponent Multnomah University on Friday, September 13 at Austin Sports Complex.
