NEWBERG --- The George Fox Bruins hosted and fell to the conference-favorite Pacific Lutheran Lutes, unable to find the back of the net in a 2-0 loss.

Recap:

From the start of the game, George Fox was not afraid to be physical and competitive with undefeated-in-conference Pacific Lutheran.  The defenses on both sides of the ball were forced to be active early, with great passes making it past the back line.  In the 22", after a great defensive effort to control the Lutes from getting into the box, Magee Leah let it fly from far outside the 18", but found the upper right corner of the goal just out of the reach of goalkeeper Annalisa Klein.  The incredible shot put Pacific Lutheran ahead 1-0.

The score would stay the same for the rest of the half even though more opportunities presented themselves for both teams.  George Fox attempted two corner kicks and five shots, but none of them found the back of the net.

As the second half was underway, Pacific Lutheran made an early push down field, earning them a corner kick from the left side.  The Lutes' Ellie Johson made the most of their chance, scoring the goal and adding to the lead.

Even down 2-0, George Fox did not give up.  They threatened to score on multiple occasions with shots from Madison Burch and Amy Hatter, but both were saved by goalkeeper Ashton Huppert.

Pacific Lutheran held their lead through the horn, improving to 5-0 in conference play.

Top Performers:

Hatter played well on both sides of the ball, keeping George Fox in the game, as did Burch, who lead the Bruins with shot attempts (2).

The Bruins are now 1-4 in conference play and fall to 3-4-1 on the season.
