Bruins Fall To Pios in Season-Opener

BEAVERTON, Ore. --- The George Fox women's tennis team took to the courts for a nonconference match against Lewis & Clark College Saturday, as the Bruins fell in the season-opener, 8-1.


The Pios were able to secure two points in doubles from the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles team. The bright spot for the Bruins came at No. 2 doubles when Jillian Studer and Lydia Pia partnered up to take on Pios' Natasha Hood and Riley Hanks.

The duo of Studer and Pia came away with an 8-6 victory to give the Bruins their lone point in the match.

The Pios were sharp in singles, winning four of the five matches in straight sets. Studer was solid again for the Bruins at the No. 3 spot, taking the first set 6-1, before falling 6-2 and 6-0. The next closest match came from Laney Search at the No. 5 spot. Search battled with Adrienne Fox of LCC in a back and forth 7-5, 7-5 loss.

What It Means:

The Bruins open the 2018 season at 0-1.

The Bruins will host Hardin-Simmons Saturday, Feb. 17.
