BEAVERTON, Ore. --- The George Fox women's tennis team hosted a nonconference match against the Cowgirls of Hardin-Simmons University Saturday morning, winning the matchup, 7-2.
The Bruins got things rolling in doubles as they grabbed all three points to start the match. Laney Search and Sophia Lawrence grabbed the first point for the Bruins at the No. 3 spot with an 8-3 win. Catrina Kwong and Kristen Mock teamed up at the No. 1 spot coming away with a back and forth match at 9-8. Jillian Studer and Lydia Pia finished off doubles at the No. 2 spot, taking down the Cowgirls, 9-7.
In singles, the Bruins continued to showcase their firepower. Studer was the first to complete her match at the No. 3 spot with a big win over Abigail Kendall in a 6-2, 6-2 showing. Mock secured the Bruins fifth point of the match at the No. 2 spot with a 7-5, 6-1 victory over Kyra Mobley. The Cowgirls were able to get wins at the No. 1 and No. 5 spot, but both of those matches went to tiebreakers. Pia grabbed a nail-biter at the No. 4 spot with a 6-4, 6-7, 1-0 (10-5) victory. Lawrence was the final Bruin to get a win in singles at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-2 win.
What It Means:
The Bruins now stand at 2-1 on the season.

The Bruins will take on Willamette in a nonconference match Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 4 pm.
