Bruins Capture Second Straight NWC Win Over Bearcats

BEAVERTON --- The George Fox women's tennis team captured its second straight Northwest Conference victory Saturday, as the Bruins beat the Bearcats of Willamette, 6-3.


The Bruins got on the board early, as Catrina Kwong and Kristen Mock paved the way for the home team. The duo found its groove at the No. 1 spot in doubles with an 8-5 victory to give the Bruins their first point. Laney Search and Sophia Lawrence provided the Bruins with a 2-1 lead after doubles with an 8-5 win at the No. 3 spot.

The Bruins found success in singles action, as Kwong won her match at the No. 1 spot, 6-0, 6-3. Sophia Lawrence and Emily Brink both won their matches in straight sets to secure the victory for the Bruins. Laney Search won her nail-biter of a match at the No. 5 spot, 1-6, 6-0, 7-6 (8-6).

What It Means:

The Bruins improve to 5-10 on the season and 3-4 in the NWC.

The Bruins will close out their season on the road against Linfield Sunday, April 8.
