Bruins Finish Texas Trip On Saturday

ABILENE --- The George Fox women's tennis team finished its Texas road trip on Saturday with a pair of matches against Hardin-Simmons and McMurry.


The Bruins started off the day with a competitive match against Hardin-Simmons. Sophia Lawrence and Taylor Morris evened the match up at 1-1 after winning the No. 2 doubles, 8-6. In another back-and-forth match at No. 3 doubles, Laney Search and Megan Wilks pulled off a gutsy win at 8-7 over Kelsey Doege and Elizabeth Lopez.

Heading into singles, the Bruins led 2-1. The Cowgirls did well to balance things out in singles, taking the No. 1, 3, 4, 5, and 6 points to seal the victory of 6-3. Lawrence won the Bruins' lone point in singles play at the No. 2 spot with a 6-34, 6-3 victory over Abigail Kendall.

In the second match of the day, the Bruins ran into a McMurry University, dropping the match, 8-1. Lawrence continued her undefeated day with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at the No. 3 spot against the War Hawks.

What Comes Next:

The Bruins will start Northwest Conference play against Willamette at home on Feb. 23.
