Loggers Get Best of Bruins

TACOMA --- The George Fox women's tennis team completed its Washington trip on Sunday, as the Bruins fell to the Loggers of Puget Sound, 7-2.


The Bruins went back-and-forth in doubles action before falling 2-1. Jillian Studer and Taylor Morris played at the No. 1 spot and threw everything they had at the Loggers' No. 1 team. Studer and Morris ended up falling, 8-4. Laney Search and Sophia Lawrence were unable to grab a point at the No. 2 spot, but Alyssa Byde and Emily Brink recorded the Bruins' first point. Byde and Brink were in true form in their match, winning at the No. 3 spot, 8-2.

The Loggers ran away with the match in singles play, though, winning five of the six points in the 7-2 match.

Danielle Brown scored the Bruins' lone point in singles, winning her match, 6-1, 6-4. Byde also displayed a well-fought battle the No. 6 spot with a three-set match. Byde won the first set, 6-0, but then fell 6-3, 1-0.

What It Means:

The Bruins fall to 3-6 on the season and 1-1 in the NWC.

What Comes Next:

The Bruins will host the Pirates of Whitworth University on Sunday, March 17, at 10 am.
