NEWBERG --- The George Fox women's tennis team hosted Whitman College in a Northwest Conference match on Saturday, falling to the Blues, 9-0.


The Blues were in the hunt from the start, sweeping all three points in doubles action. Taylor Morris and Jillian Studer had the closest match in doubles at the No. 2 spot. Morris and Studer took on Anastasiya Redkina and Audrey Grigore from the Blues in the longest match in doubles play but fell in an 8-7 match.

The Blues continued their success in singles, taking all six points to complete the 9-0 sweep.

Alyssa Byde had the closest match in singles at the No. 5 spot but fell in a 6-2, 6-4 match to Grigore.

"The team gave a great effort against a very good team today," said head coach Rick Cruz. "We are continuing to get better and hopefully that will show over the final few matches. We will need another solid effort tomorrow if we want to get a win against Willamette."

What It Means:

The Bruins fall to 5-13 on the season and 1-4 in the NWC.

What Comes Next:

The Bruins will travel to Salem on Saturday, March 13, with a match against Willamette at 11 am.
