Bruins Finish Out Willamette Valley Tourney With Doubles Play

McMINNVILLE --- The George Fox women's tennis program continued its fall ITA events with seven doubles competitions on Sunday, Sept. 8, at Linfield College as part of the Willamette Valley Four-Way tourney.


The Bruins competed in four doubles events against teams made up of Linfield, Pacific, and George Fox athletes. The Bruins' tandem of Taylor Morris and Jillian Studer fell to a team from Linfield, 8-1, and improved their result later that day with an 8-4 defeat at the hands of a team from Pacific (Ore.).

Megan Wilks and Ellie Mangan teamed up against a pair from Linfield and fell, 8-2, in their first outing together. The pair would later bounce back with an 8-6 win over a duo from Pacific (Ore.) to cap their time at the tourney.

Danielle Brown and Olivia Morris teamed up to defeat a tandem from Willamette with a final of 8-1 in the second open of the tourney. The pair also notched a win against teammates Alyssa Byde and Emily McDonald with an 8-5 decision.

The pairing of Byde and McDonald also faced a doubles unit from Willamette in the third open of the morning and fell in an 8-5 decision.

What Happens Next

The Bruins will compete in a three-day event hosted by Whitman on Sept. 27-29 to cap their fall schedule.
