MCMINNVILLE --- The George Fox women's volleyball team completed a season series sweep of the Linfield Wildcats on Friday, Oct. 26, with a 3-0 sweeping win on the road.
The Bruins took their previous four-set win against the Wildcats into consideration and applied that experience for the sweeping victory on the road. After an early battle against the hosting Wildcats to start set one, George Fox took a 13-8 lead at the midpoint before running away with a 25-14 win in set one.
The set one momentum carried over into the second set for the Bruins with an early 8-3 lead. Linfield surged back into contention with a long unanswered scoring run to make it 9-9, but the Bruins answered with a run of their own to win set two with a 25-18 final.
With a chance to end the night early in three sets, the Bruins fought off an early Linfield push to take a 7-5 lead. The Bruins kept the advantage the rest of the way through what proved to be the final set as they completed a 3-0 sweep with a 25-17 win in set three.
Danyle Dupray led the way for the Bruins with 15 kills, the most tallied by any player in the match. Dupray also served up three aces and contributed 13 digs in the win. Laney Search and Madison Ross led all players with 19 assists each, and Sophia Lawrence produced a match-high 22 digs.
What It Means
The Bruins improve to 9-13 overall and are 3-10 in Northwest Conference matches with the win.
