NEWBERG --- The George Fox volleyball team hosted Pacific (Ore.) for their Northwest Conference opener as part of homecoming weekend on Friday, Sept. 20, in Miller Gymnasium. The visiting Boxers were too much for George Fox to handle as the Bruins fell in three sets (25-14, 25-22, 25-20).

Pacific jumped out ahead early in the match with a quick win in the first set before George Fox began to give serious pressure in the second.

The Bruins were behind, 20-14, in set two when they suddenly made an electrifying 7-1 run to knot up the score at 21. Paige O'Rear had back-to-back aces and then added a kill. Liv Alexander added two more kills to fuel the George Fox run. Ultimately the effort came up short as Pacific was able to stymy the comeback and win the set 25-22.

In the final set, the Bruins took an early lead before Pacific rallied to reclaim their edge. Both teams exchanged points back and forth throughout but Pacific pulled away to end the night with a 25-20 tally in set three. O'Rear had four kills and a block to lead George Fox in the set.

Top Performers

O'Rear had a team high seven kills along with Ashtyn Butler. Kacey Bouwman had three aces while serving in the match to go along with O'Rear's two.
