SPOKANE --- A first set loss was the only struggling George Fox volleyball did in an NWC contest on the road with a 3-1 win over Whitworth on Friday night in Spokane.

The Bruins' first set on offense was a stuggle with more errors than kills in 25-17 loss, but the team made adjustments prior to the second frame of play.

George Fox started the second set in a 0-5 hole before fighting all the way back into contention. The second set went to deciding points as the Bruins and Pirates were knotted up 25-25 before George Fox pulled away to take the set 27-25.

Paige O'Rear and the Bruins coasted in the third set as O'Rear made kill after kill to give George Fox a 25-18 win and a 2-1 advantage.

The final set was a 25-20 GFU win as O'Rear and Liv Alexander had back-to-back kills to put the match away for the Bruins who improved to 2-5 in NWC play after defeating the second-place Pirates.

Top Performers

O'Rear continued her stellar season and continues to make a case for an NWC all-conference nod with a double-double of 17 kills and 12 digs in the match. Bailey LeBreton added 11 kills for the Bruins and Sophia Lawrence had a match-best 21 digs in the contest.

What it Means

The Bruins snap a four-game skid and improve to 2-5 in NWC play and 5-11 on the season.
