Bruins Stretch Streak To Eight In Tacoma

TACOMA --- The George Fox volleyball team continued their scorch through the second half of NWC play on Saturday night with a sweep of Puget Sound. The Bruins won 25-21, 25-22, 25-15.


The opening set was hard fought but the Bruins never fell behind the Loggers and took the set 25-21. Paige O'Rear and Ashtyn Butler each had multiple kills to propel GFU though the set. 

George Fox won the second set 25-22. O'Rear had an ace and three more kills in the set but Puget sound tried hard to push the Bruins. 

George Fox dominated the final set as the Bruins worked to put an exclamation point on the victory. The Bruins rushes out ahead and never let up, winning the set 25-15. Ashtyn Butler finished off the set with her tenth kill of the night to give George Fox their eight consecutive win. 

Top Performers

O'Rear and Butler each had double-digit kills with Butler registering 11 and O'Rear had 10. Laney Search was excellent with a game-high 34 assists.

What It Means

The Bruins second half of NWC play has been nothing short of phenomenal thanks to the emergence of younger players along side the consistency of veterans like O'Rear and Butler. George Fox now has a 12-11 overall winning record and is 9-5 in NWC play. The Bruins are scorching as the season winds down and they'll look to stay hot going forward.
