"Kody had a fantastic race with a Top five finish," said head coach Randy Dalzell. "He chased the leader for most of the race and was right in the mix of winning the 5k."

Meanwhile, on the women's side, Taylor Suwa (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani High School) led the Bruin pack with a 12th place finish, running 20:55. Five Bruins finished in a pack after Suwa, as Sarah MacKenzie (14th) (Redmond, Ore./Redmond High School), Caitlin Kereszturi (15th) (Woodinville, Wash./Cedar Park Christian High School), Kelly Toms (16th) (Visalia, Calif./Central Valley Christian), Courtney Hochstetler (17th) (Salem, Ore./Western Mennonite High School), and Rachel Gibbs (18th) (Aloha, Ore./Southwest Christian School) all finished within 20 seconds of each other.

"Taylor had a great day and it was fun to see her perform in front of her family," said Dalzell. "We had a bunch of girls run well today and I was proud of how they performed."

The team will compete next on Oct. 11 at the Wes Cook/George Fox Invitational at Willamette Mission State Park in Brooks, Oregon.
