Box Score
McMINNVILLE, Ore. -
Kurtis Wong punched in the only score of the game midway through
the first half and the Linfield College Wildcats made it stand up
for a 1-0 victory over the George Fox University Bruins in a
Northwest Conference men's soccer match Saturday afternoon
here at the Linfield Soccer Field.
The Wildcats attacked the George Fox goal relentlessly all day,
taking 31 total shots to seven for the Bruins, and held a 19-6
advantage in shots on goal. Linfield also had a
7-1 margin in corner kicks, but the Bruin defense turned back
almost ever Wildcat effort. GFU keeper Jake
Maguire made 14 saves and the defense recorded four more team
saves.
It was that one solitary score that proved to be the Bruins'
downfall, however. Travis Isaacs provided a
decoy run that drew the defense away from Wong, who broke around
the other side and slipped a low shot past Maguire after a pass
from Carter Elhabassi at 29:17 in the first
half. It was Wong's seventh goal of the
season.
Linfield goalkeeper Jon Thompson made six saves in recording the
shutout as the Wildcats avenged a 3-1 loss to the Bruins back on
Oct. 5 in Newberg. That was the Bruins'
lone conference victory thus far this season.
George Fox (2-12-3, NWC 1-8-2) will be out to snap a six-game
losing streak in the Bruins' final home game of the year
Sunday at 1:30 p.m. against Pacific Lutheran

University of Puget Sound Sunday, also at 1:30
p.m. Both matches will be preceded by
women's NWC games at 11:00 a.m.
