MSOC: PACIFIC 3, GEORGE FOX 0 - Streaking Boxers Overpower Bruins for 5th Straight

Box Score

FOREST GROVE, Ore. - Unable to slow down a streaking Pacific University men's soccer team which posted its third straight shutout and fifth straight win, the George Fox University Bruins dropped a 3-0 decision to the Boxers in a Northwest Conference match Sunday afternoon here at Lincoln Park Stadium.

The Boxers were dominant offensively as they posted their ninth straight home win and extended their home unbeaten streak to 15 matches, out-shooting the Bruins 17-5, including 7-2 in shots on goal.  Pacific also held a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks, eight of them in the first half.

Pacific opened the game with four corner kick opportunities in the first 12 minutes, Brandon Porter putting the Boxers on the board on the fourth of those in the 12th minute.  Kevin Fujimoto started the play with his corner kick from the right, which was headed by Avery Neal to Porter, who hit with a header of his own from right in front of the net.  Porter scored on a similar play five minutes later, connecting off a right side corner kick from Fujimoto and heading it in from just inside the left post for his third goal of the season.

After the two assists, Fujimoto had his own chance to score in the 34th minute, burying his second goal of the season to the upper right corner after rebounding a shot by Jasem Jaihouni that glanced off the left post.  Jaihouni earned his fourth assist and league-leading 16th point.

Bruin goalkeeper Jake Maguire made two spectacular stops in the 41st minute to prevent any further scoring.  Jaihouni rifled a shot that glanced off Maguire's hands, and then headed the rebound back towards the net, only to have Maguire make another great save.  He finished with four saves in the loss.

George Fox finally got its first shot on goal in the 50th minute when Brennan Altringer found himself open from 10 yards out, but Andrew Stevermer made the save for the Boxers. Keith Marshall also had a shot on goal off a free kick in the 67th minute, which was also saved by Stevermer, who earned his fifth shutout of the season and ran his streak of scoreless minutes to 484.

George Fox (4-8, NWC 1-6) visits Linfield College Saturday while Pacific (9-2-1, NWC 5-1-1) goes to Willamette University.  Both games start at 2:30 p.m.
